Member countries

UPU member countries are invited to gather in Istanbul, Turkey, to set the roadmap for the world postal sector at a landmark three-week event, the 26th Universal Postal Congress.

Plenipotentiaries from the UPU’s 192 member countries will form the ultimate decision-making body for the Union as Congress meets from 20 September to 7 October, 2016.

Significant event

Member countries are coming together at a critical juncture, where they face great opportunities and significant challenges of rapid social and technological change. Congress is tasked with rising to this occasion to address weighty issues affecting designated postal operators worldwide.

The setting for Congress, the historic city of Istanbul, forms the backdrop for this assembly of nations. The roadmap finalized there will be called the Istanbul World Postal Strategy in honour of Turkey, the host country.

The Congress venue is the Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel and Conference Centre.
